  18. <p>     Technology may soon revolutionize U.S. attempts to patrol
  19. the flow of people, drugs and guns across its 1,900-mile border
  20. with Mexico. The sensors employed by the Border Patrol tend to
  21. be tripped off by every passing cow and coyote. Sandia National
  22. Laboratories in Albuquerque is developing a sophisticated new
  23. array of sensors that can transmit photographs of a trespasser
  24. to a central monitoring station, indicate direction and speed
  25. of movement, and also measure the presence of metal, a signal
  26. that the target is armed.
